Binance expands junior platform with gifting, payments and in-app crypto education

After debuting Binance Junior in December 2025, Binance has unveiled a fresh set of features designed to make crypto saving and financial education more interactive for families.
Built for children and teenagers between 6 and 17 years old, Binance Junior was created as a parent-managed platform that promotes healthy saving habits and early financial literacy. The app allows adults to oversee activity while introducing younger users to digital assets in a controlled setting.
The latest update adds three major components: a Red Packet crypto gifting function, Merchant Pay capabilities, and full in-app access to the illustrated educational guide ABCs of Crypto. Together, these additions are intended to provide a more engaging, hands-on experience for families exploring digital finance.
With Binance Junior, parents remain in full control of their child’s account, including the ability to toggle features on or off and monitor transactions through a streamlined dashboard. The new tools build on that framework, enabling children, with parental approval, to receive crypto gifts, make permitted purchases, and access educational resources that simplify complex crypto concepts.
As part of the expansion, parents can now authorize transfers from other verified adult Binance accounts into Junior accounts. This includes Red Packet gifts as well as standard peer-to-peer transfers, making it possible for relatives and close family friends to send digital assets directly. To promote responsible usage, annual incoming transfers are capped at US$12,000 across crypto deposits and Red Packet gifts combined. Once that ceiling is reached, additional transfers are paused until the next cycle. Guardians retain the option to disable these features at any time.
The newly introduced Merchant Pay function allows Junior users to complete payments at approved merchants, while automatically blocking restricted categories such as gambling and tobacco. The feature is designed to give young users practical experience managing digital funds in a safe, supervised environment.
The rollout coincides with Ramadan and Lunar New Year festivities, periods traditionally associated with gift-giving. Binance is positioning its Red Packet feature as a digital alternative to cash gifts, enabling instant wallet credits and real-time notifications for recipients, a modern twist on longstanding cultural traditions.
Beyond payments and transfers, education remains central to the platform’s mission. The ABCs of Crypto eBook is now embedded directly into the mobile app in an interactive, child-friendly format. Through illustrations and simplified explanations, the guide introduces foundational crypto concepts, helping young users build understanding and confidence alongside their parents.
Yi He, co-CEO of Binance, said the platform is designed to help children manage allowances through savings and payment tools under parental supervision.
“By encouraging good money habits early, we hope to support families in building a solid financial foundation for the future,” she said.
She added that several of the new features were shaped by community feedback, with further updates planned. The broader objective, she noted, is to make crypto education both accessible and enjoyable while ensuring safety remains a priority.
Looking ahead, Binance sees Junior as part of its longer-term strategy to prepare the next generation for an increasingly digital financial landscape, offering a pathway for young users to gradually deepen their understanding as they grow.
