South African technology and security services company Galeboe Professional Services has expanded its cyber security and resilience portfolio through a partnership with Irish data protection company Binarii Labs. The agreement adds Binarii Labs’ data fragmentation, encryption and secure storage technologies to Galeboe’s managed security offering, which serves organisations across sectors including government, financial services and other regulated industries.
Under the agreement, Galeboe will distribute and support Binarii Labs’ core technologies across South Africa and selected African markets, including Botswana, Namibia and Kenya. The portfolio includes the BinariiDSP platform, the BinariiDSM secure file management solution for small and medium-sized businesses, and CyqurPRO, a password and credential management platform. The partnership was facilitated by EA Capital, Binarii Labs’ authorised distributor in Africa and the Middle East, with advisory support from Impact Settlement Capital.
The partnership reflects growing demand among African organisations for technologies that address both cyber security risks and data sovereignty requirements. Many organisations operating in regulated sectors are under increasing pressure to maintain tighter control over where sensitive data is stored, how it is accessed and how quickly systems can recover following a cyber incident.
Binarii Labs’ platform distributes encrypted fragments of data across multiple storage environments, including cloud, on-premises and hybrid infrastructure, rather than storing complete datasets in a single location. The model is designed to reduce the operational impact of breaches, outages or infrastructure failures by preventing any one environment from holding the full data set.
Cecil Thokoane, Managing Director at Galeboe, said the partnership strengthens the company’s ability to address regulatory and operational resilience requirements across African markets. “Binarii Labs’ architecture – based on fragmentation, encryption and user-owned multi-storage – is a game-changer for governments and enterprises across Africa,” he said.
Thokoane added that the partnership is particularly relevant as Galeboe expands its presence in financial services. “This fills an important gap in our security offering,” he said. “Binarii comes from a strong financial services background, which is a plus for us, since we are expanding our services for the financial sector. It adds a unique solution to the portfolio of end-to-end security and resilience services we offer to clients in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Kenya, and beyond.”
The agreement also reflects a broader shift in how organisations approach cyber security investments. Rather than focusing exclusively on perimeter defence and attack prevention, companies are increasingly prioritising operational resilience — including recovery speed, continuity planning and protection of critical data assets.
Lydia Makuwe, who leads Galeboe’s security division, said customers are increasingly focused on response and recovery capabilities following cyber incidents. “Organisations are focusing more on how quickly they can respond and recover from attacks. It’s around cyber resilience, which in turn is also around operational resilience and business resilience,” she said.
Makuwe added: “Galeboe Security has partnered with top tier vendors to bolster client resilience across their entire environment – from networks and infrastructure to the data layer.”
According to the companies, the security framework supporting the combined offering aligns with standards including ISO 27001, SOC2, HIPAA and NIST CSF 2.0, while also addressing regional regulatory requirements such as POPIA in South Africa, GDPR in Europe and the NIS2 cyber security directive.
Ciarán McNamee, Co-Founder at Binarii Labs, said the partnership is intended to support broader adoption of sovereign data protection models across the region. “Galeboe Secure represents the best of our technology, tailored for African markets. Galeboe’s deep regional expertise will accelerate adoption of sovereign-by-design data protection, ensuring clients maintain uninterrupted access even in the event of a breach,” he said.
