New initiative combines local AI infrastructure and creative tools to lower barriers for app development and digital storytelling across the continent.

Cassava Technologies and Gebeya Inc. have announced a strategic partnership to introduce Gebeya Dala, a new AI-driven creator platform designed to help Africans turn ideas into digital products, regardless of technical or artistic background. The initiative brings together Cassava’s AI-ready data centers and computing infrastructure with Gebeya’s focus on building an inclusive service economy for the continent.

Positioned as the first AI-powered creator platform of its kind in Africa, Gebeya Dala is built with accessibility as its core principle. Rather than targeting experienced developers or designers, the platform is aimed at students, entrepreneurs and creatives who have traditionally been excluded from the digital economy due to technical complexity or lack of resources.

At launch, the platform will offer tools that allow users to build applications and visual content using natural language instructions, including local African languages. One of the flagship features enables users to create functional apps in minutes without writing code, while another allows stories rooted in Africa’s oral traditions to be transformed into comic and manga-style visuals without prior design skills.

The collaboration reflects a broader ambition shared by both companies: ensuring that artificial intelligence adoption in Africa is locally grounded, culturally relevant and supported by infrastructure on the continent. Cassava provides the underlying cloud, data center and GPU-as-a-Service capabilities, while Gebeya focuses on unlocking creativity and economic participation at scale.

According to Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Cassava AI, the partnership is about enabling African innovation on African soil. He said the initiative ensures that ideas developed by local creators are processed, protected and scaled using infrastructure based on the continent, while also helping to cultivate the next generation of digital talent.

A central element of the partnership is the co-development of AI models and tools that reflect African contexts and use cases. Data processing and model training will take place entirely within Africa on Cassava’s infrastructure, supporting data sovereignty, reducing latency and aligning with local regulatory requirements.

For Amadou Daffe, CEO and co-founder of Gebeya, the launch of Gebeya Dala represents a shift in who gets to participate in the digital economy. He said the platform is designed to remove the assumption that technical expertise is a prerequisite for creation, opening the door for young people, small business owners and storytellers across the continent to build and share digital products.

Beyond the technology itself, the partnership includes a joint go-to-market strategy focused on reaching universities, startup communities and creative hubs throughout Africa. By combining infrastructure, AI tools and distribution, Cassava and Gebeya aim to spark a new wave of locally driven innovation and expand access to digital opportunity at scale.
