The Central University of Technology (CUT) has appointed Galeboe Mogotsi as its new Chief Information Officer, with the appointment taking effect on 5 January 2026. The move reflects the institution’s focus on strengthening technology leadership as it progresses into the implementation phase of its 2026–2030 strategic plan.
Mogotsi brings nearly 20 years of experience spanning enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity and digital transformation. His appointment supports CUT’s broader efforts to reinforce its resources and operations capabilities, positioning technology as a critical enabler of institutional renewal and long-term sustainability.
Before joining CUT, Mogotsi served as Chief Information Security Officer at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he led cybersecurity strategy, risk management and resilience initiatives. His professional background also includes senior leadership roles at Armscor, the Gauteng Partnership Fund and Sanral, environments characterised by complex governance requirements and strict regulatory oversight.
A chartered CIO, Mogotsi has consistently invested in professional development. He holds an MBA with a specialisation in management information systems, as well as a postgraduate diploma in IT management from Mancosa.
Beyond his executive roles, Mogotsi is an active contributor to the cybersecurity community. He currently serves as vice chair of the board of the Cloud Security Alliance of South Africa, participating in industry-wide discussions on cloud security, risk management and best practices.
CUT expects Mogotsi’s leadership to play an important role in advancing the university’s digital and operational priorities as it navigates the next phase of its strategic journey.
