Chowdeck expands tech capabilities with Mira acquisition
Postado por Editorial em 24/06/2025 em TECH NEWSChowdeck and Mira have developed technologies that address the unique operational challenges of African SMEs, from inventory management and sales tracking to delivery coordination and customer engagement.
Chowdeck, a leading on-demand delivery platform in Africa, has announced the acquisition of Mira, a fast-growing point-of-sale (POS) solution tailored for the food and hospitality industry on the continent. The move represents a strategic step toward building a comprehensive, integrated infrastructure that supports commerce from order to doorstep.
Founded with a shared vision of empowering local businesses, both Chowdeck and Mira have developed technologies that address the unique operational challenges of African SMEs, from inventory management and sales tracking to delivery coordination and customer engagement.
Mira currently supports over 500 hospitality brands with tools that streamline payments, kitchen workflows, inventory control, and customer relationship management. With the acquisition, Chowdeck aims to integrate Mira’s POS capabilities with its logistics and delivery infrastructure to unlock new efficiencies for food businesses, including:
- Streamlined order-to-delivery workflows
- Cost-effective last-mile delivery solutions
- Unified systems for online and physical store operations
Industry analysts view this as a move toward establishing one of the first fully integrated commerce ecosystems for Africa’s food and hospitality sector, bridging offline and online experiences with a scalable technology backbone.
As part of the transaction, Mira’s CEO Ted Oladele will join Chowdeck as Head of Product, bringing his experience in building user-centric platforms for African merchants. Other key Mira team members will also transition into Chowdeck’s product division. Meanwhile, Mira cofounder and COO Olaseike Ibojo will step away from operations to take a sabbatical following nearly a decade in the fintech and startup space, including her contributions at Paystack and Mira.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend in African tech: the consolidation of platforms to deliver more value across the entire customer journey. It also reinforces the growing emphasis on designing tools that are not only robust and scalable but also grounded in the day-to-day realities of local entrepreneurs.
