Durban Developer launches accessible AI Platform via Email

Durban developer Jeeten “Jay” Bhoora has introduced Siza AI, an email-only artificial intelligence platform designed to make digital assistance widely accessible across Africa. With no need for applications, high-speed internet, or online payments, the service is available to anyone with access to email, currently the most widespread digital tool in South Africa.

“If you can send an email, you can access Siza,” Bhoora explained. “There’s no need for apps or credit cards—it meets people where they already are.”

The name “Siza” comes from the isiZulu word for “assist.” The platform supports several local languages, including isiZulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, and English. It aims to support users in areas like education, small business compliance, and basic legal advice, delivering clear, concise answers in less than a minute.

One of its free offerings, [email protected], enables students to send academic questions and receive bilingual explanations in subjects such as mathematics and science. Bhoora sees this as a way to bridge education gaps caused by language barriers and limited access to resources.

“Siza is not here to replace people. It’s about removing the barriers that hold people back,” he said. “When education becomes accessible, it opens the door to employment, innovation, and dignity.”

The initiative has already gained traction with NGOs such as UrGlobal, which are using it to introduce AI tools in under-resourced schools. The roadmap for Siza includes launching additional services, including email support for labor rights and public service navigation.

Siza AI uses open-source models to keep the platform transparent and accessible. Users can choose between free BASE email addresses for everyday tasks or PRO versions for more specialized support.

“Siza AI is about designing technology that fits real-world challenges,” Bhoora said. “When people are given tools that actually work for them, they find extraordinary ways to move forward.”
