Fortra and Maxtec QBS Software Africa have announced a distribution partnership focused on expanding access to data security technologies for organisations across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

The agreement adds Fortra’s cybersecurity portfolio to Maxtec QBS Software Africa’s offering for enterprises and public sector organisations managing growing volumes of data across cloud, SaaS and hybrid infrastructures. The companies will work together to provide technologies related to data security posture management (DSPM), data classification, data loss prevention (DLP), email security, brand protection and offensive security.

The partnership comes as organisations across the region face increasing challenges tied to data visibility, access control and risk management in distributed environments. Through the collaboration, Maxtec QBS Software Africa will combine regional implementation and support capabilities with Fortra’s security platform to help customers consolidate security operations and monitor sensitive information across multiple systems.

A central component of the offering is Fortra’s DSPM technology, designed to help organisations identify where sensitive data is stored, understand how it is accessed and apply protection policies across different environments. The platform also enables automated data discovery and classification, while helping security teams identify risks linked to permissions, configuration issues or unauthorised access.

Fortra, which develops cybersecurity and automation technologies for enterprises globally, said the partnership is part of its regional expansion strategy in Africa. Maxtec QBS Software Africa, which distributes enterprise IT and cybersecurity solutions across the continent, will provide local channel support and deployment expertise for customers adopting the platform.

“Partnering with Maxtec QBS Software Africa marks an exciting step forward for Fortra as we continue to build meaningful momentum across the SADC region. Together, we’re strengthening our ability to help organisations safeguard their environments and confidently achieve stronger, smarter protection,” said Faraz Siraj, Vice-President Global Channels & Alliances at Fortra.

“Organisations today are managing data across more environments than ever before, and that creates significant challenges in maintaining visibility and control. Fortra’s platform brings these capabilities together in a way that simplifies security while strengthening protection. This partnership allows us to help our customers take a more proactive and unified approach to managing risk,” said Sanjay Mithal, Head of Strategic Vendor Alliances at Maxtec QBS Software Africa.

The companies will present the joint offering during a webinar scheduled for 28 May and later at the ITWeb Security Summit, which takes place in Johannesburg from 2 to 4 June.
