Infobip South Africa names Lauren Potgieter as Country Manager to lead next growth phase

Appointment brings over two decades of customer experience and operations leadership to the cloud communications company's South African operations.

Infobip South Africa, the local arm of a global cloud communications platform that enables businesses to connect with customers across messaging channels including WhatsApp, SMS, voice and email, has appointed Lauren Potgieter as Country Manager. Potgieter brings 26 years of experience spanning business process management, customer experience and global operations, with a background that includes leading organisations through expansion, turnaround and capability-building programmes for large enterprises.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and professional qualifications in project management and process improvement, including PRINCE2 and Six Sigma Green Belt. In his new role, Potgieter will focus on omnichannel customer engagement, AI-enabled automation and partner collaboration across the South African market.

Potgieter described the thread running through his career as the relationship between connected technology and business outcomes: "Across every market I have worked in, the common thread is the power of connected experiences. When technology and people align around the customer, transformation becomes scalable and sustainable, that's what excites me most about leading Infobip's next phase in South Africa."

He pointed to Infobip's platform capabilities as central to the opportunity he sees in the market: "At Infobip, my goal is to help businesses turn every customer interaction into a connected, consistent experience. Through AI-driven customer journey orchestration, powered by solutions like AgentOS, we can unify strategy, people and omnichannel technology to deliver smarter, more personalised experiences across voice, WhatsApp, SMS and emerging digital touchpoints."

Potgieter identified omnichannel engagement, AI and automation, and the broader positioning of Africa as a customer experience hub as the primary growth areas for Infobip in the region. For his first months in the role, he outlined a focus on partnerships and measurable business impact:

"By focusing on strategic enablement and measurable outcomes, we will show how Infobip's technology strengthens customer experiences while directly supporting business strategy and growth. I'm looking forward to unlocking opportunities by leveraging the expertise of the existing Infobip team, working closely with partners and ensuring solutions are tailored, fit-for-purpose, and outcome-driven."
