The feature allows a primary account holder to activate and manage multiple SIM cards from one profile, with individual-level settings for data allocation and application access

Kastelo, a South African fintech and connectivity provider that operates as a mobile virtual network operator, has added multiple SIM functionality to its GIGS mobile offering. The feature allows a single account holder to activate and manage several SIM cards from one central profile, with separate usage parameters configurable for each card.

The primary use case the company is targeting is household management, specifically giving parents the ability to control how their children use mobile connectivity. Through the platform, parents can assign a SIM to an individual user, set how much data that user can access and restrict or manage application usage at the account level. Each SIM operates under its own settings rather than drawing from a shared pool, which gives the account holder visibility into how connectivity is being used by each person rather than just across the household as a whole.

This differs from how family plans are typically structured by established mobile network operators in South Africa, where shared billing and pooled data are standard but granular per-user controls are limited. Kastelo's approach applies account management logic more commonly associated with fintech products, where individual users sit within a parent account with defined permissions, to mobile connectivity.

The functionality also has potential applications beyond family use, including small teams or individuals managing multiple devices, though the company has positioned the launch primarily around parental oversight of children's mobile usage.

Kastelo operates as an MVNO, meaning it provides mobile services over an existing network operator's infrastructure rather than owning its own. Its differentiation is built around the account management and control layer rather than network coverage or pricing alone.
