MoneyHash hires former Ozow partnerships head Hwan Lee to lead commercial expansion across Africa

Lee spent eight years at the South African fintech and will now oversee MoneyHash's merchant relationships and payment orchestration business on the continent

MoneyHash, a payment infrastructure company that provides orchestration technology allowing merchants to manage multiple payment providers, currencies and methods through a single integration, has appointed Hwan Lee as Regional Director for Africa. Lee joins from Ozow, a South African payments platform, where he spent more than eight years in commercial and business development roles, most recently as Head of Partnerships.

The appointment follows MoneyHash's expansion of its client base across African markets, where the company now works with businesses including Luno, a cryptocurrency exchange, Lumepay and Moove. Lee was involved in supporting several of these relationships during the transition and brings established connections across the continent's payments sector.

In his new role, Lee will lead MoneyHash's commercial strategy and market development in Africa, with a focus on building enterprise partnerships and helping merchants connect to the company's orchestration infrastructure. Payment orchestration allows businesses to route transactions through different payment providers based on factors like cost, success rates and geography, rather than building and maintaining separate integrations with each provider individually. For merchants operating across multiple African markets, where payment methods, currencies and regulatory requirements vary significantly between countries, this addresses a practical operational problem.
