NEC XON, a leading African integrator of ICT solutions and part of NEC, a Japanese global company, has announced the appointment of Chris Duvenage as Team Leader of its Digital Solutions division. With over 15 years of experience across industries such as telecommunications, energy, and digital transformation, Duvenage brings a wealth of knowledge and professional insight to this pivotal role.
Duvenage joined NEC Africa four years ago, drawn by its reputation as a leader in technology and innovation. He initially led the West Africa team in managing the network management system for IHS Group, where he spearheaded region-specific strategies and implemented high-impact projects. Reflecting on this period, Duvenage said, “Working closely with diverse teams and successfully delivering measurable results prepared me for the unique challenges and opportunities at NEC XON.”
In his new role, Duvenage will focus on fostering strong partnerships, leveraging data-driven insights, and empowering his team to innovate within the framework of NEC XON’s strategic vision. He emphasised the lessons learned from his time in West Africa, including cultural sensitivity, agility in dynamic environments, and aligning technology with business goals.
One of Duvenage’s standout achievements includes the implementation of a network and process management system for IHS Group, spanning operations across South Africa, Egypt, Kuwait, Nigeria, and other African nations. This project highlighted his collaborative leadership style and results-driven approach.
Duvenage is inspired by the opportunity to innovate in areas such as IoT, AI, smart cities, and agritech. His immediate priorities include strengthening NEC XON’s leadership in IoT and digital solutions, launching initiatives to address connectivity and sustainability challenges, and building a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Sustainability is also a key focus for Duvenage, who aims to integrate energy-efficient technologies to reduce environmental impacts. “I trust my team’s expertise and dedication to drive innovation. With our partners, we will create meaningful solutions to pressing challenges. Our clients’ success is our priority, and we are committed to exceeding their expectations,” he said.
Johann Coetzee, Executive Vice President of NEC XON, expressed his confidence in Duvenage’s ability to lead the Digital Solutions division. “Chris brings a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and passion for innovation. His vision for the Digital Solutions division will undoubtedly strengthen NEC XON’s position as a trailblazer in digital transformation across Africa,” Coetzee stated.
Under Duvenage’s leadership, NEC XON aims to further its mission of delivering transformative digital solutions that address Africa’s most pressing challenges.
