Cross-border payments provider Neema has introduced a Request-to-Pay feature that allows businesses and financial technology companies to collect payments directly from customer bank accounts, circumventing traditional card payment networks.
The new payment collection method, available through Neema's platform, enables financial institutions to process local fund transfers in real-time. The system targets software-as-a-service providers, online retailers, and digital marketplaces seeking alternatives to card-based payment infrastructure.
Account-to-account (A2A) payments through the Request-to-Pay system settle within seconds rather than the multiple-day processing period typical of card transactions. The direct transfer mechanism eliminates intermediary processing layers and their associated fees, including card interchange charges that affect transaction margins.
The technology addresses operational challenges associated with card payments, including transaction failures from expired cards, blocked payments, and credit limit restrictions. By removing these failure points, the system aims to reduce customer service inquiries and payment retry attempts.
Financial institutions utilizing the Neema platform can implement the Request-to-Pay functionality to offer local payment collection capabilities comparable to domestic banks, while maintaining their existing technical infrastructure. The feature operates through Neema's application programming interface, allowing integration with existing financial services platforms.
Moshe Kimhi, chief executive officer and co-founder of Neema, stated that the service provides global payment processors and digital wallet operators with market expansion opportunities through a platform designed for developer integration.
The Request-to-Pay launch extends Neema's existing portfolio of business-to-business and business-to-consumer cross-border payment services. The company positions the feature as part of broader industry movement away from card scheme dependency in international commerce.
The introduction occurs as businesses increasingly seek payment methods that reduce transaction costs and processing delays in cross-border commerce, particularly as card network fees continue to impact profit margins in global transactions.
