New AI agent brings conversational querying to Oracle data within Google's Gemini Enterprise, with Worldline among early adopters.

Oracle and Google Cloud have expanded their existing partnership to give joint customers broader access to AI capabilities built directly into Oracle's database infrastructure. The centerpiece of the announcement is the Oracle AI Database Agent for Gemini Enterprise, which allows users to query Oracle data using natural language rather than writing SQL, a shift that targets the gap between the volume of enterprise data available and the number of people with the technical skills to access it directly.

The agent, now listed on the Google Cloud Marketplace, interprets business questions, queries governed Oracle data, and returns context-aware answers without moving or duplicating the underlying data. Developers can also connect it to other tools within Google's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to automate workflows involving data extraction, analysis and visualization. The integration is built on Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud, a service that combines Oracle's database performance and security model with Google Cloud's infrastructure.

Nathan Thomas, senior vice president of product management at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, described the approach as one focused on keeping AI close to the data rather than extracting it: "By applying AI directly to enterprise data at the database layer, customers can improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and use models more efficiently without exposing sensitive data or adding complexity."

Satish Thomas, vice president of applied AI and platform ecosystem at Google Cloud, pointed to the agent model as the vehicle for that integration: "To deliver real impact from agentic AI, customers need a simple, trusted way to interact with their valuable business data using intelligent agents such as the Oracle AI Database Agent."

Among the organizations already building on the platform is AI Shift, a subsidiary of Japanese internet company CyberAgent that develops agentic AI solutions for automating business processes across customer service, marketing and sales. The company uses Oracle Autonomous AI Database on OCI and plans to extend its deployments to Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud using the new agent. "With Gemini Enterprise, our users can move from writing SQL to asking questions in natural language to get answers grounded in trusted enterprise data," said Yuto Yoneyama, CEO of AI Shift. "That helps us speed development, improve the quality of results, and make faster, more informed decisions without compromising governance and control."

Worldline, a European payments provider that processes billions of transactions globally, is using Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud to modernize its payment processing infrastructure. "Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud gives us the scalability, resilience, and security capabilities we require to support real-time transaction processing at global scale by delivering the power of Oracle Exadata within Google Cloud," said Arni Smit, director of software engineering, integration and payment platform at Worldline.

On the infrastructure side, the announcement includes two new technical capabilities. OCI GoldenGate, expected to reach general availability shortly, enables real-time Oracle database migration to Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud and integrates with Google BigQuery for near real-time analytics. A separate integration between Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse and BigQuery allows direct reading of BigQuery Iceberg tables without data duplication, supporting unified analytics across both platforms. The service is now available in 15 regions globally, with two additional locations in Europe and North America planned within the next 12 months.
