African payment provider Peach Payments has entered into a partnership with Yoyo to introduce bank card-linked loyalty functionality on its Digit Pro point-of-sale (POS) device.
The integration allows customers to earn cashback rewards automatically when paying with a bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The loyalty mechanism operates directly through the POS terminal, without requiring separate applications, QR codes or additional equipment.
Yoyo’s card-linked loyalty product was introduced at Plat? Coffee outlets in 2025. According to the companies, customers adopted the system by using their bank cards as the identifier for earning rewards during payment.
“This solution is built for merchants who want to drive repeat visits that increase customer lifetime value,” said Rahul Jain, founder and CEO of Peach Payments. “It is ideal for restaurants, cafés, service centres and retail stores, which consumers visit regularly. The fact that they can earn and burn their rewards by simply paying for their purchases with their regular credit or debit card makes it an easy option for both consumers and merchants.”
Traditionally, loyalty programmes have operated separately from payment systems, requiring customers to present a loyalty card or scan a mobile application, while merchants managed rewards through a standalone platform.
“Our data shows that loyalty fundamentally shifts customer behavior. Members visit up to 40% more frequently and are 70% less likely to churn. When loyalty is embedded directly into the payment flow, merchants move beyond short-term tactics to building measurable, long-term lifetime value,” said Bevan Ducasse, CEO of Yoyo.
Under the integrated model, the payment transaction triggers the reward process. The companies said the POS terminal becomes a central channel for customer engagement and measurement as loyalty functions are incorporated into the checkout experience.
Peach Payments has piloted the solution in recent months with three coffee shop chains. The functionality is now being rolled out to merchants using Peach Payments POS devices to accept payments.
