Peach Payments introduces new POS device in South Africa to unify digital and in-store transactions

Peach Payments has launched the Digit Pro, a new point-of-sale (POS) device aimed at providing South African businesses with greater flexibility in how they accept and manage payments. The device, already in use with select enterprises, supports a wide range of payment methods, including digital wallets, Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) solutions, and traditional card payments. Availability in Mauritius is expected in 2026.
According to Peach Payments, the Digit Pro is the first POS terminal in South Africa capable of accepting such a broad combination of local and international payment options, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Capitec Pay, Samsung Pay, Payflex, 1Voucher, RCS, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Mobicred and Float.
Unlike traditional POS devices, which are generally limited to card transactions, the Digit Pro integrates all payment activity into a single dashboard. This allows businesses to view and manage both online and in-person sales in real time, streamlining reconciliation and reporting processes.
The device also supports the installation of custom and plug-and-play applications, enabling businesses to tailor the checkout experience to their specific operational needs. This is particularly useful for merchants that operate across both digital and physical channels, as it reduces the need for multiple service providers or integration efforts.
The system has already been piloted by South African enterprises processing more than R500,000 in monthly sales. Among them is ticketing platform iTickets, which used the Digit Pro at live events earlier this year.
“iTickets can now offer customers a seamless way to pay at the door, whether with cards or digital wallets. The integrated inventory app makes it easy to manage ticket stock and seating, and the omnichannel setup helps us track sales across platforms in real time,” said Albertus Potgieter, Managing Director at iTickets.
Peach Payments has developed several companion apps for the device, aimed at different sectors. These include inventory management for retail and hospitality businesses; restaurant management for coordinating kitchen and floor operations; and specialised tools for insurance and funeral service providers, including automated collections and member registration.
While currently available only in South Africa, the company plans to expand availability of the Digit Pro to Mauritius in 2026, with further international rollout dependent on regulatory requirements in each market.
