Bayobab Africa names Rami Farah as Chief Information and Technology Officer

Seasoned MTN executive will lead the company’s technology strategy as of January 2026.

Bayobab Africa, the digital infrastructure arm of the MTN Group, has announced the appointment of Rami Farah as its new chief information and technology officer (CITO), effective 1 January 2026. The company operates and commercialises MTN’s extensive digital infrastructure assets, supporting connectivity and data services across multiple African markets.

In his new role, Farah will oversee the design and execution of Bayobab Africa’s IT and technology roadmap, with a focus on strengthening scalability, resilience and operational performance as the business continues to expand across the continent. He will report directly to Mazen Mroué, CEO of MTN Digital Infrastructure.

Farah brings more than two decades of experience in telecommunications and technology, having led complex technology transformations and large-scale operations within the MTN Group. Most recently, he served as chief technology officer at MTN South Africa, in addition to holding several senior leadership positions across the group’s operations.

Commenting on the appointment, Mroué said Farah’s leadership will play a key role in advancing Bayobab Africa’s technology ambitions and reinforcing its long-term growth strategy. Farah holds a master’s degree in telecommunications from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a diploma in telecommunications management from Spain.
