Designed for both individual and corporate users, the feature is particularly relevant for major South African airports such as OR Tambo, Cape Town International, and King Shaka, where demand for reliable airport transport continues to rise.

Ride-hailing platform Bolt has rolled out a new feature that automatically adjusts pickup times for airport rides based on real-time flight data. By syncing scheduled rides with passengers’ flight details, the system detects delays or cancellations and reschedules pickups accordingly, eliminating the need for manual updates and offering a more seamless post-flight experience. According to IT News Africa, this update builds on Bolt’s earlier expansion of its ride scheduling window, now allowing bookings up to 90 days in advance.

Designed for both individual and corporate users, the feature is particularly relevant for major South African airports such as OR Tambo, Cape Town International, and King Shaka, where demand for reliable airport transport continues to rise. For business travelers using Bolt Business, the integration supports greater travel efficiency by combining automated ride management with existing benefits like centralized billing and trip reporting, all within the familiar Bolt interface.

Passengers scheduling a ride can now input not just their arrival and destination details, but also specific flight information, such as the flight number, airline, and expected landing time. The system then uses this data to monitor the flight and adjust the pickup accordingly, based on the buffer selected by the user. There is no additional cost for the automated rescheduling service.

Lerato Motsoeneng, Senior General Manager at Bolt, noted that the company currently operates as an official ride-hailing partner at more than 30 airports worldwide.

“With Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, our customers—whether private or corporate, gain added reliability. If their flight is delayed or cancelled, their ride adapts automatically, so there’s no need to worry about timing. It’s a step forward in reducing travel stress and increasing convenience right from the arrivals gate.”
