Cassava Technologies, the African-origin technology conglomerate, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sand Technologies, a global enterprise AI solutions provider, to jointly deliver GPU-as-a-service (GPUaaS) and customized AI solutions across the continent.
The strategic partnership aims to democratize AI access and addresses Africa’s growing demand for scalable AI infrastructure. With Sand Technologies serving sectors like telecoms, healthcare, and energy across four continents, the alliance will leverage Cassava’s NVIDIA-powered GPU capabilities to develop industry-specific AI tools. Early plans include co-creating pilot solutions for African markets and expanding cost-effective processing power access.
“African businesses need affordable, high-performance computing to compete globally,” said Hardy Pemhiwa, Cassava Technologies’ Group CEO. “This partnership isn’t just about infrastructure – it’s about enabling homegrown AI innovation.”
The deal follows Cassava’s recent announcement to build Africa’s first AI factory, aiming to provide governments and enterprises with cutting-edge computing resources. Sand Technologies’ CEO Fred Swaniker noted the partnership will “redefine digital transformation pathways” for African clients.
