Google has launched applications for its Google for Startups Accelerator program in South Africa, a three-month hybrid initiative targeting Seed to Series A technology startups that utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. Google for Startups Accelerator is the company's global program designed to support early-stage technology companies through mentorship, funding, and access to Google's technical resources and expertise.
The program provides equity-free support to participating companies, with each selected startup receiving R1 million in funding. Participants also gain access to up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits and 30 days of complimentary Cloud TPU access for machine learning research activities. The initiative includes dedicated mentorship from Google technical experts, strategic guidance on company and product development, and access to technical bootcamps designed to address participants' technical challenges.
Applications for the program opened on August 18, 2025, with a submission deadline of September 10, 2025. The accelerator program begins on September 29, 2025, and concludes in December 2025 with graduation ceremonies and a Demo Day presentation event.
Eligibility requirements specify that participating startups must demonstrate technical depth, possess scalable products or services with market potential, and commit to having their Chief Technology Officer or other technical leadership participate throughout the program duration. The initiative represents Google's continued investment in African technology ecosystems and aims to accelerate the growth of local AI and machine learning companies.
The program connects selected startups with Google's global network of resources, technology platforms, and industry expertise to support business scaling and technical development. Through this accelerator, Google seeks to identify and support promising technology companies that can leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to address market opportunities and technical challenges within the South African business environment.
