Maxtec, a QBS Technology Group company, has been appointed as an official distributor of Thales cybersecurity solutions in Southern Africa. The company has distributed Imperva since 2023, and following Thales’ acquisition of Imperva in the same year, Maxtec’s portfolio now includes the Thales Data Security product line.
The integration of Imperva into Thales creates a single portfolio that brings together application and data security with encryption, data discovery and classification, and key and secret management technologies. According to the 2025 Thales Data Threat Report, 69% of surveyed organisations consider generative AI adoption their top security challenge, while the 2025 Imperva Bad Bot Report found that automated traffic surpassed human traffic globally, with 44% of advanced bot activity targeting APIs. Additionally, 24% of organisations report uncertainty regarding the location of their data.
In this context, Maxtec will distribute solutions covering areas such as application and API protection, data encryption and tokenization, and data discovery and monitoring. The company will also provide pre-sales consulting, deployment assistance, and integration support in collaboration with Thales.
“The addition of Thales’ data security products complements our Imperva offering and allows us to address evolving customer requirements in South Africa and the SADC region,” said Praven Pillay, Managing Director at Maxtec.
“The expanded portfolio from Maxtec supports our channel strategy in the region and strengthens our ability to work closely with partners,” said Florian Malecki, VP Channel Sales EMEA at Thales Cybersecurity Products.
