Nutanix, a hybrid multicloud computing provider traded on NASDAQ under ticker NTNX, has appointed Marco Vieira as Regional Sales Manager for the Southern African Development Community region.

Vieira brings over two decades of experience in enterprise technology and cloud sectors to the position, where he will lead Nutanix's commercial strategy across SADC territories. His responsibilities include supporting customers and partners in accelerating infrastructure modernization initiatives through hybrid multicloud platforms designed to streamline operations and strengthen business continuity capabilities.

"Marco's strong market knowledge and leadership experience make him the ideal person to lead our next phase of growth in SADC," said Raif Abou Diab, Country Manager for South Gulf and sub-Saharan Africa at Nutanix. "The region continues to play a vital role in Africa's digital growth story, with organisations actively seeking cost-effective, high-performance alternatives in an increasingly complex and noisy market. Marco's understanding of customer needs, combined with his deep partner relationships and knowledge of Nutanix, will be instrumental in helping us strengthen our position as the trusted choice for hybrid multicloud innovation across SADC."

The appointment represents a return to Nutanix for Vieira, who previously served as Territory Manager for more than three years, during which he contributed to regional expansion and partner relationship development across southern Africa. His reappointment signals renewed emphasis on customer engagement and partner ecosystem growth throughout SADC markets.

Between his tenures at Nutanix, Vieira held senior positions at Datacentrix as Sales Business Unit Manager and at Hewlett Packard Enterprise as Country Manager for Hybrid IT and Storage. His career trajectory has encompassed both technical and strategic functions, including leadership in cloud architecture, storage systems, and enterprise sales.

"I'm delighted to be taking on this role at such a critical time for the region," Vieira stated. "Across southern Africa, organisations are re-evaluating their IT strategies and looking for solutions that deliver real value without added complexity. There's a growing appetite for modern, cost-efficient platforms that offer freedom of choice, and Nutanix is perfectly positioned to meet that need. My focus will be on working with our partner team, partners and customers to unlock new opportunities and achieve the results they need to really take advantage of application modernisation, a future built on AI and capitalising on their cloud investments."

The appointment occurs as organizations across southern Africa increasingly evaluate alternatives to traditional infrastructure models amid pressure to reduce costs while maintaining or improving performance. Hybrid multicloud architectures have gained traction in the region as enterprises seek flexibility to distribute workloads between on-premises data centers and public cloud environments based on specific application requirements, regulatory constraints, and economic considerations.

Nutanix's positioning in SADC markets emphasizes simplification of complex infrastructure environments through software-defined platforms that abstract underlying hardware complexity. This approach addresses challenges organizations face managing heterogeneous infrastructure spanning multiple vendors, locations, and cloud providers.

Vieira's appointment strengthens Nutanix's leadership team in a region where digital transformation initiatives continue despite economic headwinds, with organizations prioritizing infrastructure investments that deliver measurable operational efficiency and support emerging technologies including artificial intelligence workloads.
