South African educational technology company Rekindle Learning has completed the acquisition of Cape Town-based EpiTek for an undisclosed amount, creating an expanded digital training platform designed to serve African enterprise clients.

Rekindle Learning, a Johannesburg-headquartered learning innovation company led by women executives, specializes in helping organizations across the continent drive performance improvement, productivity enhancement, and workforce development through digital learning solutions. The company focuses on measurable outcomes for corporate training initiatives across various African markets.

EpiTek operates as a software-as-a-service education technology provider based in Cape Town, offering white-label online education platforms that enable organizations to deliver comprehensive digital learning experiences. The company specializes in end-to-end education technology solutions for institutions and corporate clients.

The acquisition creates a new integrated platform called Rekindle EpiTek, combining both companies' capabilities to address formalized training requirements for Africa's developing workforce. The merged platform targets accredited and non-accredited skills development providers alongside work-based learning programs.

According to Rekindle Learning, the new platform delivers comprehensive training management through facilitated live classrooms, artificial intelligence-powered assessment supervision, analytics, and reporting functionality within a single integrated system. The solution aims to streamline the entire learning process from content delivery through outcome measurement.

Sally Nhlanhla, CEO of Rekindle Learning, characterized the merger as transformative for African skills development. "This represents a redefinition of how skills development occurs across Africa," Nhlanhla stated. "Organizations can now manage complete training journeys, from performance-driven microlearning to structured programs and formal certification, through a solution designed by Africans for African needs."

The transaction positions Rekindle Learning among the limited number of African and women-led technology companies to successfully acquire and integrate another technology business, representing a significant milestone in a sector predominantly influenced by international players.

Matthew Scott, CEO of EpiTek, described the acquisition as an evolutionary step for education technology capabilities. "Rekindle Learning now operates as a high-impact African technology company positioned to meet continental training and skills development requirements at scale," Scott explained.

The integration incorporates EpiTek's solutions into Rekindle's existing offerings, creating a comprehensive training ecosystem that combines microlearning, formal accredited education, assessment tools, and macro learner management systems into a scalable platform.

Within the South African market context, the Rekindle EpiTek platform specifically addresses organizations transitioning from Sector Education and Training Authority accreditation frameworks to Quality Council for Trades and Occupations accreditation standards, providing continuity during regulatory transitions.

The merged entity aims to capitalize on growing demand for digital skills development across African markets while providing locally-developed solutions tailored to regional workforce training requirements and regulatory environments.
