PwC has announced that Anastacia Tshesane will become Chief Executive Officer of its South African operations beginning July 1, 2026.
Tshesane currently serves as Chairman of both the PwC South Africa Governing Board and the PwC Africa Governance Board, positions she has held since July 2021. Upon assuming the CEO role, she will transfer her board chairmanship responsibilities to Alsue du Preez, who leads PwC Africa's insurance practice and has served as a partner for 18 years working with listed financial services companies.
Tshesane has worked at PwC for 19 years as an Assurance Partner, with experience spanning financial services, consumer markets, and industrial sectors. She has overseen audits for domestic and international corporations with global operations.
The appointment was confirmed by Dion Shango, Chief Executive of PwC Africa, who noted Tshesane's contributions to the firm's development and the auditing sector. "Her work with leadership teams, clients, and stakeholders has strengthened PwC's position," Shango stated.
Current South Africa CEO Shirley Machaba will retire on June 30, 2026, after leading the regional office since 2019 and completing 24 years with the company. Machaba reflected on her tenure, citing the organization's focus on trust and problem-solving initiatives.
In a statement about her upcoming role, Tshesane emphasized quality and trust as priorities for the firm's operations and stakeholder relationships. She acknowledged both Machaba's tenure and Shango's ongoing support in the leadership transition.
