The UK-based software company has introduced new analytics and learning capabilities to Sage People, aiming to help HR teams manage workforce planning and employee development.

Sage, a UK-headquartered provider of accounting, financial, HR and payroll software for small and mid-sized businesses, has announced the launch of Workforce Intelligence, a new analytics engine within its Sage People platform. The tool is designed to give human resources teams greater visibility into workforce trends and support data-driven planning.

The announcement comes as HR departments face increasing pressure to play a more strategic role in business planning. Research from Gartner shows that while labour markets have shifted significantly, most organisations still rely on basic headcount projections, with only 15% engaging in long-term workforce planning. Sage says the new feature aims to address this gap by offering AI-powered insights, enabling HR leaders to analyse and visualise data in real time.

Workforce Intelligence, built on the Salesforce platform, is targeted at mid-sized organisations operating internationally. The tool highlights workforce patterns, identifies potential risks and supports decision-making across HR functions. According to Sage, the system’s ability to provide early indicators of change can help teams respond more effectively to business needs.

In parallel, Sage has partnered with Uptime, a mobile-first micro-learning platform, to provide HR teams with access to short-form content focused on both professional development and employee wellbeing. Uptime aggregates insights from books, courses, podcasts and other media into five-minute learning modules, available in more than 20 languages. The integration into Sage People is positioned to support reskilling efforts and address gaps in employee training, a challenge highlighted in recent research by IDC.

Executives from both companies said the collaboration is intended to make continuous learning more accessible to employees while complementing broader workforce planning tools. The new features are now available to Sage People customers and will be rolled out across markets where the platform is active.
