UK software group Klipboard acquires South African sales operations platform Skynamo

The deal gives Skynamo deeper integration with ERP systems and expands its reach across Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK and the US, while the platform continues to operate under its existing brand

Skynamo, a South African cloud-based sales operations platform, has been acquired by Klipboard, a London-headquartered provider of business management software. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Skynamo was founded in 2012 under the name Honeybee and has since built a mobile-first platform designed for manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors. The software manages field sales activity, order processing and customer interactions for businesses operating in supply chain and distribution environments. The company currently supports close to 1,000 customers, processes more than $70 million in monthly order value and handles millions of customer interactions each year. It operates across Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK and the US, having expanded internationally following a $30 million Series A funding round in January 2020.

Klipboard provides vertically focused, cloud-based business management software to more than 55,000 enterprise and small-to-medium business customers globally. The acquisition is intended to deepen Skynamo's integration with ERP and broader business management systems, connecting the sales operations layer more directly to back-office functions that distributors and manufacturers rely on.

Klipboard CEO Ian Bendelow said the acquisition supports the company's strategy of investing in sector-focused software. "This acquisition strengthens our position in Sub-Saharan Africa and internationally, and supports our strategy of investing in innovative, sector-focused solutions that help customers grow," he said.

Skynamo will continue operating under its current brand, with Klipboard committing to ongoing investment in product development and customer support.
