University of Nairobi and Odoo partner to integrate ERP training into agribusiness curriculum

The partnership will introduce Odoo’s enterprise resource planning tools into the university’s agriculture and technology programs. Students will gain practical experience with digital systems used in supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and operations.

The University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Agriculture and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Odoo, a global provider of open-source business management software. The agreement incorporates the Odoo Education Program into the faculty’s academic curriculum to equip students with practical skills in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

The faculty has introduced Odoo’s integrated business modules into teaching and training activities. Students will work with tools covering supply chain management, manufacturing, inventory control, finance, and other core operational functions commonly used in agribusiness. The curriculum will include workshops and case-based exercises that simulate real business processes in the agriculture and food production sectors.

The initiative was led by Dr. Catherine Nkirote Kunyanga, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. According to Professor Moses M. Nyangito, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, the collaboration supports the faculty’s objective of preparing students for roles that require knowledge of digital systems used in agricultural operations.

“Odoo’s platform gives students access to a full ERP environment, which is relevant for organisations managing production, distribution, and processing activities,” he said.

Ummekulsum Bohri, Education Officer Africa at Odoo, noted that the partnership allows the company to support skills development in a sector where digital tools are increasingly applied to improve operational planning and resource management.
