Verto, a cross-border payments platform focused on emerging market corridors, has added named USD business accounts for US-registered companies to its Verto Business Accounts product. The feature is designed for businesses that operate across the United States and Africa and need a reliable way to move funds between the two markets without relying on intermediaries or facing transaction blocks from conventional US banks.
US-registered businesses with African operations frequently encounter restrictions when sending or receiving payments involving African markets. US banks often delay or reject these transactions, apply high or undisclosed foreign exchange costs, and provide limited access to payment corridors in countries such as Nigeria and Kenya. Businesses without a US bank account in their own name typically piece together multiple tools to manage these flows, adding cost and operational complexity.
Verto's new accounts give US-domiciled businesses a named USD account they can use to receive funds from US customers or investors, convert between USD and local currencies including the Nigerian naira and Kenyan shilling, and settle payments through local payment rails. The platform supports holding, receiving and paying in 48 currencies from one interface. Virtual cards are available for team spending in 11 currencies without transaction fees. The product also includes onboarding and compliance support that covers both US and African regulatory requirements.
The solution is aimed at venture-backed startups, import-export businesses and investors directing capital into African markets.
"We believe founders building across borders should not be constrained by the limitations of traditional banking. Providing named accounts in the US empowers businesses with the funds they need to operate globally, connecting the US and Africa more efficiently without friction," said Ola Oyetayo, CEO of Verto.
