New platform connects real-world asset tokens to everyday mobile money, lowering the barrier to investment and credit access

Harare-based fintech Ndarama has unveiled a new digital investment and lending platform designed to link tokenised real-world assets directly to fiat-based loans delivered through Zimbabwe’s mobile money ecosystem, allowing individuals to participate with entry points as low as US$1.

The company is operating within the regulatory sandbox of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZIM), where it has been approved as the country’s first Collective Investment Scheme built around tokenised securities. This places the platform under a framework similar to that governing mutual funds and real estate investment trusts, bringing a layer of formal oversight to an otherwise emerging segment of digital finance.

Unlike most decentralised finance services that rely on cryptocurrency wallets and crypto-to-crypto transactions, Ndarama’s model keeps blockchain largely invisible to end users. Investments are made into digitised representations of physical assets, such as property, which can then be pledged automatically as collateral for US dollar loans. Funds are paid out through widely used mobile money services, including EcoCash and OneMoney, without requiring customers to hold or manage digital currencies.

Behind the interface, smart automation manages the relationship between assets, collateral and loan disbursement, creating a bridge between blockchain infrastructure and traditional financial rails. The company positions this approach as a way to combine the flexibility of programmable finance with the familiarity of everyday payment systems.

Founder and chief executive JP Matenga says the goal is to deliver practical financial tools rather than speculative technology. According to him, the platform is built to provide access to tangible assets, regulated investment structures and dollar-denominated credit through channels that ordinary users already know and trust.
